The Student Technology Fee Committee expects proposal authors to purchase software at the lowest available prices. Regardless of the terms of the award, software should be acquired at the academic or contract discount rate. To assist authors, we will use this page to collect advice on the appropriate process for software purchasing.

Adobe Software

If your proposal includes the purchase of software from Adobe Systems, Inc, the STF requires that all purchases of Adobe products must be made through the contractual license agreement with the University of Washington. This agreement includes specially-negotiated prices which are much cheaper than the ‘educational discount’ available from retail stores. For information on how to order through this agreement, which is administered by Zones.com, see the following webpage:

Zones.com/UW

Make sure that in addition to the number of licenses your proposal requires, you also order at least on CD/Documentation set. Licenses and CD’s are listed on separate PDF price sheets. For example, if your proposal requires 25 copies of Photoshop for Windows:

Order quantity 25 of 54013330XD Photoshop CS WIN $127.50
Order quantity 1 of 23101927 Photoshop CS WIN CD Set $22.39
